All iPhone 15 models will likely have a 48-megapixel camera

Last year, Apple decided to equip iPhone 14 Pro models with a 48-megapixel main camera. Now a new rumor says that all members of the iPhone 15 series will be equipped with this camera.

To ITHome website reportSony has gone to TSMC and asked for help from this company to provide Sony cameras. In particular, Sony asked TSMC for help in producing color filter film and some other camera elements due to the lack of production capacity.

48 megapixel camera on all iPhone 15 series phones

According to the report, Apple is one of the reasons why Sony is under pressure for production capacity in 2023; Because more Apple phones are equipped with a 48 megapixel camera than the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. With this in mind, Apple apparently wants to equip not only the Pro models, but the entire iPhone 15 series with a 48-megapixel camera.

With the 48-megapixel camera in all iPhone 15 series models, the demand for these smartphones will increase, which will result in the need to increase production. One of the reasons for Sony’s concern about the production capacity of its cameras is that Apple uses three layers instead of two layers in the new cameras.

Sony’s latest CMOS sensors are manufactured with stacking technology, which stacks amplifier circuits and photodiodes. This production method reduces the amount of noise in the images. TSMC is said to be responsible for manufacturing things like photodiodes and logic circuits.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen reports of iPhone 15 camera supply chain issues. It was said in the past that these problems could delay the introduction of the next generation of iPhones.
