Ambiguity about how to hold Golden Globe Awards

Theater News Base: The 79th edition of the Golden Globe Film and Television Awards is set to take place this year, but due to the non-broadcasting of these awards by NBC, the exact details of how these awards will be held have not been provided yet.
A letter sent to the studios a few days ago by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association about the rules for this year’s awards seems to focus only on the acting category, and it is unclear whether this year’s Golden Globe Awards will be held in categories such as Best Director or Music.
Puck journalist Matthew Blooney predicts that this year’s Golden Globe Awards will be a press conference, just like the one in 2008, which was accompanied by a writers’ strike.
Following a series of criticisms of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the organizer of the annual Golden Globe Awards for lack of racial diversity, NBC announced in May that it would boycott the awards and would not broadcast them until 2022.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association reformed after increasing criticism, adding 21 new members, 29 percent of whom were black journalists. Not a single black journalist had previously been a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
NBC said in a statement that changes of this magnitude to the Golden Globe Awards will take time and that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will need time to do so, so NBC will not broadcast the awards in 2022, and we hope that if there are changes, January 2023, we will host the broadcast of these awards again.
