AMD Mendocino processor specifications revealed – only two graphics computing units

A block diagram is revealed that confirms the specifications of the AMD Mendocino processor as the Red Team’s low-power APU. The slide was first published in a WeChat group and then republished by Chiphell. Twitter user Olrak29_ Also managed to find the main slide showing Mendocino details.

AMD’s new low-power processor uses the FT6 socket, and apparently its die dimensions will be over 100 square millimeters. This APU targets low-end, low-power laptops that are affordable. Following the recent rumors about the integrated graphics of this chip, we can now confirm that we will see only two RDNA 2 computing units in this model.

AMD Mendocino processor specifications

This quad-core APU uses two architectures similar to Zen 2 and RDNA 2 similar to the Steam Deck handheld console. With the introduction of the AYANEO Air Plus handheld console, it was thought that we would see a similar graphics performance from Mendocino. Although AMD has confirmed that these two silicones are different. In any case, Slide confirms that there are only 2 computing units, ie 128 stream processors, for this chip, which is much less than 8 computing units and 512 Steam Deck cores.

In addition, Mendocino has been confirmed to support two × 32 LPDDR5 channels, which will provide 4 to 32 GB of memory. VCN 3.0 media engine also supports AV1 and VP9 decoders, just like Rembrandt. Obviously due to the poor graphics, we do not expect to be able to count much on the Mendocino gaming aspect.
