AMD Ryzen 7040U Phoenix laptop processors have been officially announced

AMD has finally decided to officially introduce Ryzen 7040U low-power processors for laptops. These processors have an energy consumption between 15 and 30 watts and have been developed specifically for light ultrabooks and handheld Windows consoles. AMD has introduced four processor models of this series, which include 4 to 8 core models based on the new Zen 4 architecture.

According to the official slides, the company AMD Ryzen 7040U Phoenix processors has developed with the aim of highly optimized performance in terms of energy consumption and “super charging”. The company has put a lot of effort into optimizing the energy consumption of these processors and has developed several smart features to manage their energy consumption, especially when the device is not connected to a charger.

As we said, four new processors from Phonenix’s 7040U series have been announced: 7540U, 7640U, 7840U and 7440U. These processors have 8, 6 and 4 Zen 4 cores, respectively, and their frequency is between 4.7 and 5.1 GHz. Most importantly, AMD promises that the base frequency of these processors will not be less than 3.0 GHz.
The most important feature of the Ryzen 7040U processors is not the Zen 4 cores, but the RDNA 3 integrated graphics processors. For these processors, AMD has developed integrated Radeon 760M, Radeon 780M and Raedon 740M processors, which are equipped with 12, 8 and 6 CU units, respectively.

The introduction of Ryzen 7040U processors is not the only new news, and it seems that the development process of Ryzen 7040H Phoenix processors has also encountered problems and the release of these processors has been delayed by 2 months. AMD has not specified a release date even for these 7040U processors. But since we’re close to the Computex 2023 event, AMD’s partners may be busy with these processors on their new laptops in the next few weeks.
