America: There is no indication that the arrest of an American is related to the Khashoggi case

Ned Price, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, added: “We are still gathering information in this regard.”
He said: We have announced to our Emirati partners that Mr. Ghafoor should have access to the consulate and that a fair and transparent legal process should be provided for him and that he should be treated humanely.
Earlier, the Reuters news agency announced that the UAE authorities have arrested Asim Ghafoor, an American citizen and civil rights lawyer who previously worked as Khashoggi’s lawyer.
According to the Reuters news agency, Ghafoor himself is a member of the human rights group Dawn.
Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist against Bin Salman, who wrote for the Washington Post, was kidnapped and brutally murdered after visiting the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.
This 59-year-old journalist, as a critic of the Saudi ruling body, was murdered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018 (10 Mehr 98), a week after he criticized the Saudi authorities for being silent against the insults of the American president.
Earlier, in a series of articles in the Washington Post newspaper, Khashoggi criticized Saudi Arabia’s policies regarding the Qatar crisis, the severing of relations with Canada, the war against Yemen, and the Saudi authorities’ treatment of the media and civil activists, especially human rights defenders.
