America: We expect China’s reaction to Pelosi’s visit in the long term

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Tuesday evening local time: “China has prepared itself to take further steps and we expect that it will continue to react in the long term.”
He claimed: I cannot provide a specific date, but we certainly expect that China will continue to react even beyond Pelosi’s trip.
Kirby also claimed: America is not looking for a crisis and does not want it.
He also noted that US President Joe Biden respects Pelosi’s decision to visit Taiwan.
The White House official went on to say that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi exercised her right to visit Taiwan on Tuesday and that the visit was not a violation of China’s sovereignty or a change to America’s long-standing “one China” policy.
Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, after days of controversy about her trip, finally arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday evening, August 11, and was welcomed by the island’s officials in the dark of the night.
As soon as Pelosi arrived in Taiwan, she issued a statement claiming that her visit did not violate the joint statements of the United States and China.
He added: “Our visit is one of several congressional delegations to Taiwan – and in no way contradicts long-standing US policy guided by the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, the US-China Joint Statements and the Six Assurances.”
China’s Foreign Ministry summoned the country’s ambassador on Tuesday night in protest against Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan Island.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement released after Pelosi’s arrival on Taiwan Island that the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives will greatly affect the political relations between China and the US.
However, John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator of the White House National Security Council, claimed before the press conference with reporters that the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives to Taiwan is not a violation of China’s sovereignty.
The strategic communications coordinator of the White House National Security Council added that US President Joe Biden did not speak with Pelosi before her visit to Taiwan.
While trying to downplay Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, Kirby said: It is not unusual for members of Congress to visit Taiwan. Also, the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to Taiwan is not unprecedented.
