American companies are looking to trade secretly with Moscow

According to the International Economy Group of Fars News Agency, Turkish newspaper “Yeni Shafaq” reported that American companies that left Russia due to US sanctions are now looking for a way to do secret business with Moscow through Turkey.

According to this report, a number of companies want to bypass Russian economic sanctions and request Turkish companies to do joint business transactions in exchange for a “certain commission”. According to knowledgeable sources, the number of such offers from American companies has increased in recent months.

American companies are looking to import a range of Russian goods, including petrochemical products, mineral fuels, metals and precious stones, grains, iron and steel, fertilizers and mineral chemicals, aquaculture and alcoholic beverages.

Yeni Shafaq’s report states, “American companies that are trying to benefit from Turkey’s warm relations with Russia, want to take advantage of the logistics opportunities of Turkish companies in the region.”

According to this report, many international companies headquartered in America have mobilized their subsidiaries in Dubai’s free trade zones for such transactions.

Referring to Washington’s $23.3 billion trade deficit with Moscow in 2021, this newspaper wrote that American businessmen have suffered a lot of losses due to leaving the big Russian market.

After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the United States and Western companies imposed extensive sanctions against Russia, and many Western companies left the country.

A recent survey by the “McTavish” insurance agency showed that the vast majority of British companies have been affected by Western sanctions against Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the survey, 71% of British businesses had assets directly affected by the restrictions imposed against Moscow by the UK and other Western governments.
