American journalist arrested at Myanmar airport / 11 years in prison for sedition

According to the Fars News Agency media reporter, quoting Euronews, A Myanmar court has sentenced an American journalist to 11 years in prison.
Danny Fenster is the editor-in-chief of Myanmar-based Frantier Myanmar. He was arrested at Rangoon Airport in May this year before flying to the United States.
According to the American journalist’s lawyer, the court that issued Mr. Fenster’s sentence is under the control of the military.
The 37-year-old American journalist was sentenced to 11 years in prison after the United States demanded his release.
Myanmar’s military government seized power following a coup in February this year and intensified its crackdown on the domestic media. Danny Fenster, however, is the first foreign journalist to be sentenced to prison in the country.
According to Mr. Fenster’s client, “terrorism” and “sedition” have been reported as crimes against the journalist.
