American official: Russia is no longer a reliable source of nuclear fuel for the United States

According to IRNA’s report on Thursday, in an interview with the American newspaper “Washington Examiner”, “Catherine Hoff” noted that there is not enough capacity to fill the gap caused by the lack of Russian enriched uranium in the world, so it is necessary to create this capacity inside the United States.
He, who is in charge of the Department of Nuclear Energy in the US Department of Energy, announced the efforts of the Joe Biden government to implement incentive programs to increase the domestic production of low-enriched uranium.
Stating that Russia still supplies 20% of low-enriched uranium needed by American reactors, this American official said: Russia is no longer a reliable source of nuclear fuel needed by America, and we must complete the supply chain internally.
The war in Ukraine has darkened the relations between Washington and Moscow at the political level and even affected the economic, scientific and technical cooperation of the two countries.
