American senators met with Zelenskiy/Declaration of Kiev’s need for more air defense systems

According to IRNA’s report from Reuters on Friday morning, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut arrived in Ukraine on Thursday.

According to the statement of the office of the President of Ukraine, Zelensky discussed with them about Ukraine’s need for more air defense systems before the start of the academic year in Ukraine in September.

Zelenskiy said: “We need to achieve such a level of security so that the people of Ukraine are not afraid to live in their own country.”

Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal are supporters of the Senate resolution to list Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.

In a joint interview with Blumenthal, Graham claimed to Reuters that the bill would put Russia “in the same category as Iran, Syria and North Korea.”

Graham also said the bill would have the support of nearly all members of the Senate.

According to IRNA, previously Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, supported Ukraine’s request to the US Congress to list Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.

In an interview with “MSNBC” channel, Nancy Pelosi said: “I fully support this request and I have been following it for some time.” If Russia is not included in the list of countries supporting terrorism, we should tear this list.

Pelosi claimed: “The leader of a nuclear power has attacked another country and threatened to use nuclear tactics and encouraged his soldiers to rape children and mothers and kidnap children.” These violent acts are beyond the scope of civilized human behavior.

The President of Ukraine has asked US President Joe Biden to identify Russia as a state that supports terrorism.

On February 21, 2022 (March 2, 1400), Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region, criticizing the West’s inattention to Moscow’s security concerns.

Three days later, on Thursday, February 24 (March 5, 1400), Putin launched a military operation against Ukraine, which he called a “special operation”, thus turning the tense Moscow-Kiev relationship into a military confrontation.

The war in Ukraine has entered its fifth month, and reactions to the Russian invasion continue.
