America’s chip war with China and Russia


According to Fars International Economic Group, Washington has imposed restrictions on the sale of special computer chips with advanced technology to China and Russia.

The American media announced this news by referring to the two major American chip makers, Nvidia and AMD.

According to the Wall Street Journal, these new restrictions affect graphics processing unit chips, or GPUs. GPUs were originally developed for video games, but were quickly replaced by companies that Cloudyand were used by scientists and technology companies who needed them to recognize speech and objects in photos.

Chip manufacturers in the US now need special export licenses to sell these types of chips, Washington says; Because according to the specifications of this chip, they can be used by Russia and China to develop weapons and collect information.

The New York Times, citing informed sources, wrote that a number of other companies that design chips or computer software have received requests from American authorities in recent weeks to stop exporting their advanced technologies to China and Russia.

Beijing criticized Washington’s decision and the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said that this action affects the rights and interests of Chinese companies and at the same time endangers the stability of industrial chains and global supply.
