Amir Abdullahian announced: 5 BRICS member countries support Iran’s membership

He added: In this meeting, which is the beginning of preliminary steps to review Iran’s membership application and be added to the five main BRICS member countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran was able to express its positions.
The head of the diplomatic service mentioned that we discussed with the foreign ministers of Russia, Brazil, India and South Africa who were present at the meeting regarding the membership of Iran and the mechanism that is being set up, and reminded that the foreign minister of China was not present at the meeting and One of the deputy foreign ministers of China was present at the said meeting. In the past, we talked with the Chinese in this regard, and these five countries collectively announced their support for Iran’s membership and the beginning of Iran’s membership. But we are still waiting for the agreed mechanism to accept the new member to be announced in the near future.
According to Fars, the meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS countries and BRICS friends was held today in Cape Town, South Africa. Foreign ministers and high-ranking officials of South Africa, Iran, Brazil, Russia, India, China, Argentina, Bangladesh, Comoros, Cuba, Burundi, Congo, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Uruguay They participated in this meeting.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stated: Of course, Iran is receiving serious attention due to its geopolitical position and high capacities within the framework of the conditions of the main BRICS members.
Amir Abdollahian also said: Using the opportunity to attend this summit, I talked with the foreign ministers of a number of countries and consulted on bilateral issues and multilateral cooperation. In the framework of the neighborhood policy of Mr. Raisi’s government, close, sincere and forward-looking meetings and discussions were held with the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
The Foreign Minister also stated: The main members of BRICS are very interested, in addition to bilateral relations, in the framework of the new alliance called BRICS or Shanghai, some of which are members of Shanghai, so that we can have stronger economic and trade relations.
According to Fars, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also announced that a conference will be held in Tehran in collaboration with the embassies of the BRICS member countries in Tehran.
