During the meeting, the Foreign Minister emphasized the 13th government’s serious attention to relations between the two countries in various fields, the exchange of high-level delegations between Iran and Russia, and the recent telephone conversation between Ayatollah Ra’isi and Putin, the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation. The country called for the development of sustainable and long-term cooperation.

Referring to the regional cooperation between the two countries, Amir Abdullahian described the joint cooperation between the two countries in Syria as a completely successful experience that has been formed within the framework of the will of the Syrian government and sovereignty.

The head of the diplomatic service also stressed the need to use the successful experience of joint cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism in Syria and use this model for close cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation to play a role in the economic sphere to rebuild Syria. And called for stability in the country.

Emphasis on Iran-Russia cooperation in the framework of the Astana process and the Syrian-Syrian dialogue as the only political solution to the Syrian crisis was another issue that Amir Abdullahian addressed.

It should be noted that Iran, Russia and Turkey are the three countries that guarantee the Astana process.

Lavrentyev, Special Envoy of the President of Russia and Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, also conveyed the greetings of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Amir Abdullahian, talks and exchanges of delegations between Iran and Russia on various issues of mutual interest in bilateral, multilateral and related fields. It is worth mentioning that Lavrentyev and the accompanying delegation had previously met with Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Special Political Affairs.
