Amir Abdullahian hopes for a visit by the President of Turkmenistan to Iran next year


According to Fars News Agency’s Foreign Policy Group, Turkmenistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Mardov discussed telephone relations with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahyan today (Monday) in a telephone conversation.

Referring to the phone call between the two presidents this morning and Ayatollah Ra’isi emphasizing the importance of relations between the two countries, Amir Abdullahian expressed hope that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov would pay a visit to Iran next year.

According to Fars, Ayatollah Seyed Ibrahim Raisi recently visited Turkmenistan and attended a summit of the ECO, meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh also said in an interview on Saturday that obstacles to relations with Turkmenistan had been removed during the recent visit of our President to Ashgabat.

It is worth mentioning that Rashid Mardov traveled to Tehran in November to attend the second meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and while meeting in this meeting, he met with Amir Abdullahian.
