Amir Abdullahian: I will explain the priorities of the new government at the Davos summit
According to Fars News Agency’s Foreign Policy Group, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, stated upon his arrival in Zurich, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum (Davos): “Today, some bilateral meetings are planned to develop relations.” The Islamic Republic of Iran will use this opportunity with some countries in the world.
He added: “Tomorrow, I will participate in a panel discussion that specializes in political, security, international and economic issues.”
The head of the diplomatic corps also said: “In this meeting and the opportunity provided by the panel, firstly, I will explain the priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the new government, and secondly, given that at least 40% of our foreign policy program in the people’s government is focused on economic issues.” And business is focused, I will describe Iran’s views, opportunities and capacities in this regard.
According to Fars, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, left Tehran for Switzerland before noon today (Wednesday) to attend the Davos World Economic Forum. This is Amir Abdullahian’s first appearance at the Davos summit since taking office. The Davos summit was canceled for two years due to the Corona virus epidemic. This meeting will start on May 22 (June 1) and end on May 26 (June 5).
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has postponed its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, scheduled for January 17-21, 2022, due to the Omicron outbreak of the new corona.
About a third of the 270 panels scheduled for Monday through Thursday are devoted to topics related to climate change and its direct effects. Climate issues will be the main topics discussed at this meeting. Unprecedented global warming in some parts of the world, including Europe, and the occurrence of drought and its effects on the world’s food supply, developments in Ukraine, inflation and rising living costs are other topics to be addressed at this meeting. About 2,000 economic and political figures and experts will attend the meeting.
