An Iraqi official announced the arrival of 44,000 Iranian pilgrims from the border of Mehran and Shalamcheh

According to the report of Fars News Agency, Alaa Al-Qaisi, director of the Iraqi Customs Organization, announced today (Friday) that more than 44,000 Iranian pilgrims have entered the country through the border of Zarbatieh (Mehran) and Shalamcheh.
According to the Baghdad Al-Youm website, this Iraqi official then said that the borders of Zarbatiya, Shalamcheh and Al-Munziriya (Khosravi) and Najaf Ashraf airport have been considered for the arrival of Arbaeen Hosseini pilgrims. They have entered Iraqi territory from Shalamcheh border.
According to him, the arrival of pilgrims is increasing every moment, and in the past hours, hundreds of Iranians have entered Iraq through the Al-Manzarieh border, and thousands of people are expected to enter Iraq through this border in the next 72 hours.
Alaa Al-Qaisi further said that the border crossings have the capacity to receive 10,000 pilgrims per day.
Last Wednesday, after the country’s borders were closed due to the recent unrest in Iraq, Seyyed Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesperson of the Iranian customs, announced that all the borders of Iran and Iraq have been opened for the departure of pilgrims from Iran to Iraq.
Meanwhile, a security source in this regard reported to “Nina” news website that a group of forces of the 110th Al-Hashd al-Shaabi Brigade have started the process of securing the road from Khanaqin to Hamreen.
This source added that this action was carried out in line with the special security plan of Arbaeen Hosseini (AS) to establish security on the roads of Iraq and to protect Iranian pilgrims who enter Iraq from the border crossing “Al-Manzarieh” (Khosravi border).
