Arrival of Saudi diplomats in Lebanon


According to Fars News Agency’s International Service, some Arab sources reported that a number of Saudi diplomats who had left Beirut due to tensions between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia had returned to the city.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida quoted some diplomatic sources as saying that the return of the diplomats to Beirut paved the way for the return of Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari to Lebanon, and that the return of the ambassador could have a positive effect on bilateral relations, especially at the same time. It is the beginning of the distribution of humanitarian aid.

Last year, relations between several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, were strained following former Lebanese Information Minister George Qardahi’s criticism of the Yemeni war.

Following tensions between the two countries over Lebanon, Kuwait last January presented a plan for reconciliation between the two countries, which includes a number of conditions, including the implementation of the 1989 Taif agreement and the implementation of international Security Council resolutions, especially the special disarmament resolution. Armed in Lebanon, Resolution 1980 on Lebanese sovereignty, regional health and political independence, and Resolution 1701 on the cessation of all hostilities between Lebanon and the Zionist regime following the 2006 war.

The plan also includes clauses on security co-operation between the Lebanese apparatus and the Arab states bordering the Persian Gulf.

The newspaper also wrote about the internal disputes in Lebanon that Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati is committed to holding elections as he seems to be committed to the Kuwaiti plan, which does not only include political clauses but also emphasizes the need for an economic reform plan. .
