Artificial intelligence comes to WhatsApp; One step ahead of Telegram

Mark Zuckerberg says we’re not abandoning Metaverse, but we’re excited to use AI in WhatsApp and other Meta apps.

In the profit review and audit meeting of the first 1/4 of Meta year, the word efficient was repeated many times. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Group, spoke more than once in his speech about working efficiently, and he also referred to efficient monetization and efficient organization. It seems that Zuckerberg has witnessed extravagances and not very wise actions in the recent activities of his holding company, and now by making various departments more efficient, he intends to bring more profits to the company and its shareholders.

But efficiency discussions aside, Zuckerberg had a lot to say about AI and his optimism about it. He says that computer intelligence has already improved the company’s revenue generation, and it seems that in the not too distant future, a flood of artificial intelligence chatbots will enter the most used daily applications of users. Just like when a diesel train enters a crowded station at high speed.

Artificial intelligence

Meta’s CEO further explained that there is currently an opportunity to introduce artificial intelligence agents to billions of people, and Meta also plans to advance this process with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Of course, other platforms of this holding, such as Facebook and Instagram, may also receive creative tools for making posts, which will include videos and multiple functions. He reported on the use of artificial intelligence to display advertisements intelligently and focus more on business users.

Mark Zuckerberg continued his talk with Meta shareholders and stated:

I predict that these tools will be valuable for both casual users and business accounts. For example, I think a lot of users will be happy with the change when we bring AI agents to WhatsApp, messaging apps, and customer support. Over time, we will take artificial intelligence to the Metaverse; Where users can more easily create their own avatars, objects, worlds and codes and link them together.

While Zuckerberg’s talk about how AI will be used and integrated with WhatsApp and other Meta sub-divisions remains unclear, Meta announced in a statement that it plans to use “AI Personas” in its messaging apps as well as Instagram. Applying artificial intelligence in applications is an interesting and slightly dark idea. It is not yet clear what AI model Meta wants to use for its subsets. Some models such as Auto-GPT or BabAGI are ecosystems that are designed and built to do different and more complex tasks than GPT chat, but it is still not clear to us which types of artificial intelligence will come to Meta services.

Zuckerberg says that artificial intelligence agents will be placed in the metaverse, and it is not unlikely that in the future these agents will have an avatar and we can talk to them through mixed reality or virtual reality systems. He continues, “Building Metaverse will be a long-term project, but the foundation is solid and we remain committed to it.”

Whatsapp

Meta isn’t the only platform that allows users to design AI-generated avatars. On Wednesday, Tik Tok has made it possible for its users to create up to 30 different avatars using artificial intelligence to create photos.

The CEO of Meta claims that the open ecosystem of this holding has been able to publish its own model of artificial intelligence. For example, we should mention the LLaMa language model and the open source photo segmentation tool, so that this industry becomes its standard in meta. If we consider the progress of OpenAI with its own and integrated API in cooperation with Microsoft, we will realize that Zuckerberg’s thoughts are a bit ambitious and far from reality.

Zuckerberg has returned from his previous talk about abandoning Metaverse and dealing with artificial intelligence and says that Meta has been working on the development of computer intelligence and Metaverse for years, and we will focus on both of them simultaneously. Reuters announced last week that since the middle of 2022, when meta realized how profitable and productive artificial intelligence can be, it has focused extensively on this sector and almost forgotten about the metaverse. Zuckerberg admits that we are not behind in the development of artificial intelligence and its foundation, and on the contrary, we have many abilities to expand and use it in our various services.

Whatsapp

Although the use of artificial intelligence for home and ordinary users is still not very clear and we will only see the strange avatars of the Metaverse world, but Meta is not the only company that makes promises to its users and shareholders about computer intelligence. On Wednesday, Microsoft released its earnings report, and the company’s CEO, Satya Nadella, announced his company’s $10 billion investment in OpenAI and the integration of this artificial intelligence with products aimed at the target market of ordinary users.

Nadella says chatbots will be a new way for people to search through Bing, Edge, Windows, and GPT chat. These things will help Microsoft to end the monopoly of Google search engine by Bing.
