The village of Qasim Abad, whose originality, color and age of weaving tents, has opened the feet of foreign tourists to this village – whose local clothing used to be world famous – on July 11, 2017, by the Strategic Council for the Selection of National Cities and Villages It was registered as the National Village of Chador Shab-Weaving and was nominated in 2019 by the Islamic Republic of Iran for global registration, and in February 2018 it was registered as the World Village of Chador-Shab-Weaving by the World Crafts Council.

After this pleasant incident, Sarwar Abbaspour, Gilani’s grandmother, was chosen as a pioneer artist of Qasim Abad Global Village, among rural women entrepreneurs of the country, and Shahreh Fakhr Janali, a senior expert in public law, and a young Chador Shabbafi artist, were chosen as one of the three handicraft entrepreneur artists in the country. .
Sarwar Abbaspour, the veteran artist of the Global Village of Qasim Abad, who was chosen by women entrepreneurs in rural areas of the country, sat down to talk with IRNA reporter and said with power in his words: “I have woven color into color and I have recorded the ancient authenticity of my art in every corner of the world and I worked for 50 people.
Fakhr Janali also said in an interview with IRNA reporter: In the field of social entrepreneurship, I encouraged the new generation to be proud of what they have and to encourage them to work in the field of tent weaving. I created a training workshop and emphasized the content and stories of Chadorshab so that tourists can see and get to know the plans even if they don’t buy.
He continues: I worked in the field of justice for five years, but I saw that working in the world full of originality and color of my ancestors is more attractive to me and on the other hand, more prestigious. We got together with the youth of the village and decided that now that the weaving tent is going away and our elders are dying, it is better to bring the new generation into the activity and connect them with their authentic past.
Fakhr Janali explains: Our village was full of traditions and old but lacked identification, and we started presenting designs to give identity to the objects around us, and we started by implementing different designs of woven night tents on today’s clothes and few We have expanded this design to used items such as bags and other items, so that now Chador Shab fabric is no longer known as a checkered fabric, but today Chador Shab is becoming global with its designs and stories.
He says: After that, we held a traditional bazaar only to offer the products of Qasim Abad village, which had a very good response. We produced less waste and sold products without plastic, and these activities were carried out, and according to the history of weaving tents and silk weaving in the village, and due to the efforts of Qasimabad officials, it became one of the options for globalization and was finally registered globally.
Handicrafts contribute to the development of sustainable tourism

800 thousand dollars export of Gilan handicrafts in six months
Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Gilan announced: The amount of export of traditional arts and crafts of the province in the first six months of this year has reached about 800 thousand dollars, and Europeans, Persian Gulf countries and Central Asia are the biggest buyers of these products.
But Jahani added in an interview with IRNA reporter: embroidery, chadorshab weaving, mat weaving, wooden products, leather, pottery and ceramics account for the largest amount of export of the province.

Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Gilan, referring to the different capacities of the province in the field of handicrafts and traditional arts, said: More than 27,000 handicraft artists are working in about 42 different fields of production of traditional arts products in Gilan, and seven cities and villages of the province also have brands Nationally and internationally, they have been introduced as handicraft cities and villages.

The Deputy of Traditional Arts and Handicrafts of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Gilan stated that today, despite many ups and downs, handicrafts have been among the most valuable applied arts of the society and said: the benefits of handicrafts and its importance in the economy of societies, and Also, its tremendous impact on the country’s economy, job creation, exports, tourism, and art culture is not hidden from anyone, and paying attention to this issue is one of the priorities of this general administration.
In an interview with IRNA reporter, Hamidreza Azarpour said: During the first six months of this year, 44 billion 300 million Tomans of facilities have been paid to handicraft artists of the province in the form of 1,545 projects.
Stating that the mentioned facility was provided from last year’s facilities, he said: These plans have given employment to 2 thousand 88 people.
He considered the type of climatic conditions, history, customs and traditions of Gilan to be effective in creating diverse handicrafts with pictures and motifs full of stories and diversity in the favor of tourists and stated: Gilan’s handicrafts and traditional arts therefore have a special place in the heritage. It has a culture that interweaves creativity, thinking, originality and art, therefore, its care and support has a tremendous impact on the economy and job creation.

According to the policies and priorities set by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Gilan, after the global registration of Qasimabad Rudsar with the focus on Shab Bafi tent, branding at the national level with the aim of promoting handicrafts in the region was more than ever. And after the introduction of “Fishteke Khammam” as the national carpet weaving village, the city of Rasht was also declared as the national city of Rashti Dozi and four villages of Gilan were declared as national villages.
Rashti embroidery (Rasht crochet) is one of the traditional Iranian embroidery and one of the handicrafts of Gilan, which has been registered in the list of Iran’s national works – intangible (spiritual) cultural heritage. Rashti embroidery, local clothing, tent weaving, turning, wood carving, Chinese knotting, carpentry, inlaid wood, mat weaving, bamboo weaving, pearl weaving, pottery, mosaic tile, house enamel, carpentry, pen making, carpet weaving, Jajim weaving, Shawl weaving, financial felt, sock weaving, doll weaving and crocheting are some of the traditional arts and crafts of Gilan.
31 works of handicrafts and traditional arts of Gilan have received the seal of authenticity in the last 10 years; 27 thousand and 500 artists who are working and producing in various fields of handicrafts.
