Auction of a sculpture and four restored paintings / Sotheby’s sales record is broken

According to the visual arts reporter of Fars news agency, Sotheby’s is an American auction house that runs one of the largest auctions of works of art, jewelry and collections. This auction is the fourth oldest auction in the world and is active in 90 centers in 40 countries. Its headquarters is located in New York City, USA. Sotheby’s annually holds 250 auctions in more than 70 different fields.
Works from Iran have always been sold at Sotheby’s auctions in different years. One of the latest auctions was held in October 2019 under the name of the Middle East 20th Century Works Auction. 17 Iranian works in this auction reached a total sale of one million pounds.
Sotheby’s is offering four newly restored Impressionist works by Renoir, Gauguin and Cézanne at its Marquee May auction these days.
Returned to the heirs of dealer Ambroise Vollard, the works could sell for more than $17 million.
This sale starts with Gauguin’s work. Sotheby’s calls the work one of his most important still lifes, and estimates it at $10 million to $15 million.
Renoir’s work is estimated between 1 and 1.5 million dollars.
and a watercolor and pencil on paper by Cézanne entitled Sous-bois (ca. 1882–1884) is estimated at $25,000 to $350,000.

A wealthy collector who has a large space at his disposal can become the owner of one of the most famous contemporary sculptures from next month, as the famous sculpture “Spider” (1996) will be auctioned at Sotheby’s New York, ArtNewspaper wrote. It is expected that this work of art, which is 3 meters high, will be sold for 30-40 million dollars, in which case at least one record will be broken in the auction.
