A report published by bleepingcomputer website shows that Telegram is detected as a malicious application on Xiaomi phones and its execution is prevented!
One of the security features of Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 13 user interface installed on this brand’s phones this year prevents the installation of malware on these devices. This may seem like a useful feature, but apparently it will cause problems for users. Many Western experts believe that Xiaomi also wants to follow the path of Huawei and accuse this company of spying for the Chinese Communist Party.
According to experts, the new security feature of MIUI 13 is designed and implemented on Xiaomi phones with the aim of controlling user activities and censoring applications. After installing this update, your phone may detect many apps as malicious and remove or prevent them from being installed. While the same program may be installed on the phone of other brands, including Samsung!
Telegram is systemically blocked on Xiaomi phones!
One of the most popular applications apparently identified by this malicious software is the popular Telegram messenger. When MIUI detects the Telegram app, it displays the following warning message.
The app has not passed Xiaomi’s security review. This app is fraudulent, and using it may lead to risks like fraudulent deductions or unwarranted consumption. For security reasons, it is advised to activate security measures to ensure application safety and guard against risky apps
Translation: This app has not been approved by Xiaomi’s security review. This app is fake and can cause a lot of problems like deducting money or illegal use of information. We recommend that you enable security features to protect apps from running safely and protect against risky apps.
Considering the restrictions that the Chinese government had previously placed on users to use popular messengers such as Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp, it is not unlikely that this Chinese phone maker has made such a decision for the sake of self-gratification for the Chinese Communist Party and access to Telegram Block Xiaomi phones.
Currently, Telegram is also filtered in Iran. But the restriction that Xiaomi has imposed on this app can cut off access to this program systemically, and this will create a big problem for millions of users of Xiaomi phones in Iran!
Note: This restriction is currently only applied to the Chinese ROM of Xiaomi phones and does not affect the phones containing its global ROM.
