The head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region reacted to the holding of a meeting to normalize relations with Israel in Erbil.

According to Sputnik, quoting online news, the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, reacted to the holding of a conference on the normalization of relations with Israel in Erbil, saying that the meeting had nothing to do with the climate. He also considered foreign policy as Baghdad’s authority and stressed that the climate is in line with the country’s constitution.

He noted that regional officials had no information about the Erbil conference.

It should be noted that last Friday night, a meeting was held in the presence of some Iraqi nomadic figures in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish region of the country, entitled “Al-Salam wa Al-Asterdad”, in which the normalization of Iraq’s relations with Israel was discussed.

Following the meeting and its news release on Saturday, there was a wave of protests and reactions in Iraq, to which many political figures reacted.

In a statement, the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region called on Iraqi personalities, parties and forces to deal with the issue more calmly and await the results of the KRG Interior Ministry’s investigation into the matter.
