“Bi Aban” went in front of the camera with personal funds/ the children of the theater were by my side
The director and writer of the movie “Bi Aban” talked about the process of the formation of his work and the conditions of the screening.
Charso Press: Mehrdad Korushnia Director “Be Aban” movie which is released in cinemas, he said about turning to cinema: I have been working as a playwright and director in the theater for two decades, and now I have been writing scripts in the cinema for several years. I had some designs that I would like to be made, but maybe because of their artistic form, less producers would be willing to make these works.
He said about how the idea of ”Biyaban” was formed: “Years ago, I read a news in the newspaper that formed the idea of creating this film.” It was reported in the news that a soldier killed a girl unintentionally years ago and ran away. After many years, even though he started a family and had two daughters, he came to the police station in that area and said that he had committed a murder years ago. He wants the authorities to punish him because his conscience has taken away his permission to live.
This director continued: With the explanation I gave, it became clear that the main message of the film is conscience. This concept is respected in all human societies, that’s why “Bi Aban” will be understandable to the audience wherever it is broadcasted in the world. Another point is that the film was shot in front of the camera with a small personal budget, but fortunately friends helped me in this work due to past theater experience.
Stating that this film was shot in front of the camera during the Corona era, he said: The filming of the film began in 2019, in fact, the same period when we witnessed the peak of the Corona virus. After a year, the film was ready to be released and participated in eight foreign festivals. After the public screening, we will see it broadcast on the Islamic Republic of Iran Radio and Television through the purchase of the work by the TV.
This director also said about the choice of actors: the first actor of the film is Reza Akhlik Rad. In this work, we needed that the actor of this role should play silence, thinking and isolation. We had several options, and I reached an agreement with one of them, who was Mr. Ethical. The other actors are all theater artists and they graciously appeared in the film without the number of scenes being important to them.
In response to why the conditions are not so ready for the display of artworks, Kurosh Nia stated: What happened is not only about our country and it happens all over the world. , we hear fun pop music. The situation is the same in the cinema. Unfortunately, in today’s productions, entertainment is emphasized more than anything, although this demand is one of the requirements of filmmaking, provided that the meaning is placed next to it. In such a situation, it is natural that the works that seek to express intellectual values are less likely to be seen.
He continued: In order to improve the situation and re-prosperity of films that seek to express intellectual values, it is necessary for all cultural sectors to feel their duty. It should be noted that as the director of “Bi Aban”, I don’t expect my film to sell as much as the box office works, but I expect that it will be seen as much as needed.
At the end of his speech, Kurushnia said: “Bi Aban” was shot in front of the camera for a month in the city of Talash, but it is interesting to know that in this movie, all the actors were like a family, and this happened with the help of the theatrical feature that dominated the work. he ate. In the end, I emphasize that every work has its strengths and weaknesses, so if I want to make this movie again, I will definitely correct some issues in “Bey Aban”.
