Blinken’s consultations with his Italian counterpart on the forthcoming G20 summit



According to the State Department, Blinken thanked Di Mayo for Italy’s close cooperation on Afghanistan, including Italy’s support for the temporary transfer of thousands of Afghans through the naval base in Sigonella.
According to a State Department statement, Blinken and Di Mayo discussed the upcoming G20 summit in Rome and stressed the importance of Libyan political leaders’ efforts to hold parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24.

The two sides discussed future plans for diplomatic cooperation and humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan.
