Blinken’s conversation with the foreign ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing the return to the peace process

According to IRNA, the US Foreign Ministry in a statement of the first direct talks between Blinken and Jihun Bayramf Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ararat Mirzovian Armenia’s foreign minister announced in New York after the recent border clashes between the two sides.
Ned Price, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, announced in a statement that Blinken, in his meeting with Mirzoyan and Bayramov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, emphasized the need to prevent further conflict and return to the peace process.
Price added that they discussed next steps, and the US secretary of state urged the two sides to meet again before the end of this month.
Ahead of the meeting with the foreign ministers of the two countries, Blinken said that Washington was encouraged by the fact that the fighting had stopped and that there had been no further military action in the past few days.
Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan agreed to a ceasefire last week, ending a two-day war that left more than 170 dead.
The military conflict between Yerevan and Baku from September 12 to 14 (21 to 23 September) was the deadliest conflict between the two sides since the 6-month war in 2020, during which thousands of people were killed.
