Boeing’s farewell to the queen of the skies

According to the reporter of Fars News Agency, citing Reuters, last night, the last Boeing 747 was delivered to an airline company, and the American aircraft manufacturer stopped the production of this jumbo jet forever.

At the delivery ceremony of the last Boeing 747, thousands of Boeing employees, including those who played a role in the construction of this aircraft, were present.

This huge plane was the world’s largest passenger plane before the A380 was built by Airbus Europe.

The Boeing 747, nicknamed the “Queen of the Skies”, was first used in 1970 by Pan American Airlines. Boeing announced that it designed this aircraft in 28 months. Boeing 747s are built at the company’s factory in Washington, and Boeing claims that since 1967 the 747 production line is the largest aircraft manufacturing facility in the world.

The reason why the production of Boeing 747 has been stopped is that the demand for this type of wide-body aircraft has decreased drastically due to the production of airplanes with more efficient fuel consumption by Boeing and Airbus.

The production rate of Boeing 747 in the manufacturing company during the past years was 6 planes per year, while in the 1990s and at the time of peak demand for this type of aircraft, Boeing Company produced 70 747 planes.

Kim Smith, deputy CEO and manager of two production lines for Boeing 747 and 767, announced that workers on the Boeing production line will either voluntarily retire or be transferred to other departments.
