Brokers and insular functioning of the devices are the main obstacles to the lack of development of health tourism in Iran

According to the social reporter of Moj news agency, in 1990, health tourism It became an industry in the world and countries realized that they can earn a lot of money from this way. Before that, patients from underdeveloped countries often went to developed countries for treatment at very high costs.

After 1990, a number of developing countries developed the quality and services of treatment in their country. At the same time, this service was very cheap. Therefore, the direction of this arrow was reversed and patients from developed countries went to these countries with the motive of receiving favorable and cheap treatment and traveled around along with the treatment. This industry has generated very high income for many Asian countries, and the countries of Malaysia, Singapore, India, UAE, etc. have achieved high income from medical tourism.

Countries around us need health services and this is a good position for us. Our country is developed in the field of health services and we provide almost all medical services with high quality. The success rate of our treatments is high on global scales. This means that we have all the necessary capacities to be active in this field, but this possibility was not defined and systematic at the beginning, which caused the opportunity to generate income and gain a good image of treatment to become the threat of abuse by dealers. This threat could cause Iran to be recognized as a threatening health tourism destination, not with favorable treatment, and the Ministry of Health did not have a plan for it.

None of our medical centers were designed to accept foreign patients and they were accepted like domestic patients. These people often wandered and resorted to a co-speaker to advance their work, and that person abused the patient, and this caused the medical tourism industry in our country to fall into the hands of dealers.

In this regard, Dr. Hasan Rashki, an activist in the field Tourism Salamat and the developer of Trita’s health tourism platform told the reporter of Moj: In my opinion, one of the most important obstacles to the development of medical tourism in Iran is that our target markets do not know our capabilities and potentials, and in fact, there is a flow that they can trust and a system that It is not known for them to be able to come to our country through it and receive their medical services.

He continued: Because there is no transparency in this field, the brokerage system has grown in our country and this brokerage system has caused that when a foreign patient enters our country, despite the fact that he receives good service facilities at a good price. But he feels that he has been wronged. Unfortunately, health tourists are not given the right information and despite being offered a low-cost treatment compared to our competing countries, they get the impression that they have been wronged and this dissatisfaction causes them to advertise when they return to their own country. It will not be good for Iran’s health tourism in its own country.

This health tourism activist said: Unfortunately, in the 10 years that I have been working in this field, government bodies have not set up a system that provides accurate and appropriate information, and they have not used the private sector that can help in this field.

Regarding the solutions to overcome these obstacles, Rashki explained: We must clarify the supply chain and provide health tourism services and give an identity to each of the chains, and each of the governing bodies must take responsibility for monitoring the performance of each of these chains. The problem we have in the country right now is that our governing institutions such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Tourism, the medical system, the Chamber of Commerce, etc. all want to interfere in the work, which is a big mistake that is happening in the country. is to fall

He added: “Each institution should work within the scope of its duties and should respect each other’s rights and fields.” For example, the Ministry of Health is in charge of the health sector, and it should strengthen the international patient reception department in its medical centers and give them an identity, along with that, it should support facilitating companies in this field. The job of companies like ours is to translate medical literature, communication with doctors and the provision of medical services into appropriate tourism literature and present it to patients and tourism agency marketers.

The developer of Trita health tourism platform added: This work gives satisfaction and in fact these companies facilitate the missing link of identity giving to health tourism.

Rashki clarified: In the area under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry should list the tourism agencies that are interested in marketing in this area and give them permission, support them and give them credit.

This doctor active in the field of health tourism, while pointing out the importance of international exhibitions for providing services, pointed out that the Ministry of Tourism should facilitate the presence of companies in international exhibitions so that their presence in these exhibitions can help this supply chain to marketers, hospitals and international companies that This field works, introduce.
