Build a thriving art business first, then tax

Behrouz Gharibpour said: “When the artists’ business is not prosperous at the time of the spread of the Corona virus, it is clear that paying taxes also becomes meaningless.”

Theater News Base: Behrouz Gharibpour, a theater artist, said about adding a clause to eliminate the tax exemption for artists to the 1401 budget bill in the parliament and the action of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance: “Naturally, the action of the Ministry of Culture is very valuable because the art community, especially theater and puppet theater Due to the spread of the corona virus, it does not have a suitable space for activity and no one is to blame.

He added: “Although it was possible that there were alternatives such as tele-theater and TV shows for this type of activity. A virtual theater should be set up with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to display online plays, and if an amount is removed from the artists’ salaries as a tax, it is because of the thriving business of this group. When the artists’ business is not booming, it is clear that paying taxes is meaningless, and therefore I believe that artists should be exempt from paying taxes in these circumstances.

The veteran puppet theater artist said in part: “I hope that conditions will be created for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to consult with other institutions such as the media and platforms and radio and television that are involved in the production of content and video programs, the artists’ business.” To prosper.

He concluded: “I agree with the tax, provided that the government is responsible for starting the business in return for it, and takes measures to create a thriving business for artists and collects taxes from it.” Production must first be helped in society so that its fruits can be extended to public living conditions.
