But can Pirouz live alone or be freed from captivity and enter the wild world?!
In the following, we will tell a little more about this Asian cheetah and explain the life situation of this Iranian cheetah.
victorious; The symbol of the Iranian cheetah
victorious Asian cheetah is the child of “Iran” and “Firoz” who was born on May 11, 1401 Turan National Park It was born in Semnan province and now it has become the symbol of the Iranian cheetah.
The Asiatic cheetah is an endangered species, and according to this issue, the Environmental Protection Organization is trying to preserve the generation of this valuable species, and one of these solutions is reproduction in captivity, which was successfully done for the first time, so that Iran has a female cheetah that She is in captivity in Semnan, she got pregnant naturally and managed to give birth to three yurt cubs, of course, by cesarean section, but unfortunately, after giving birth, the mother did not accept the cubs and the environmental experts had to feed the cubs by hand. Of course, two cubs did not survive, and the main reason for the loss of the other two cubs was cesarean section and lack of mother’s milk. Pirouz was born in captivity for reproduction, but the third one named Pirouz is now in good condition in Pardisan, which can be a valuable reserve for the continuation of his generation.
Many know the Asiatic cheetah conservation project by the name of Pirouz, the only child of “Iran” who had a chance to survive; Although the continuation of life in view of growing up in isolation and with the help of a therapist is a subject that has been discussed by experts.
The officials of the environmental organization, who are under a lot of pressure due to the pregnancy project in Iran and the loss of two cubs of this cheetah, now say that there are other cheetahs in the wild that need attention.
How is the maintenance of the winner?
Pirouz’s weight reached 4 kilos and 500 grams at the age of five months, and he feeds chicken and veal along with special supplements, and he is in a good general condition, but the worries continue and Pirouz’s condition is not stable.
Criticisms have been made about the methods of keeping Pirouz Nair.
Pirouz will stay in Tehran until he is 12 months old, and if the problems are resolved after 12 months, he may be transferred to Turan National Park.
Babak Bastani, Pirouz’s veterinarian, Asiatic cheetah and son of “Iran” says about Pirouz’s physical condition and health that Pirouz’s health is checked and evaluated twice daily. Pirouz is actually one of the cheetahs that we have the most medical information about. Pirouz’s weight, body temperature, type of food, state of excrement, urine quality, and oral and dental health are continuously monitored and evaluated.
Brachialization and victorious release
Deputy of natural environment Environmental Protection Organization Pirouz has also said about “rewilding” and “liberation” that the possibility that “Pirouz” will become brutal is small; We will definitely transfer “Pirouz” to Toran, but we have no plans to release it into the wild.
As it was said, after the loss of the second cub, the Environmental Protection Organization decided to transfer Pirouz to Tehran, which has better conditions and facilities than Turan, so that perhaps the loss of the third cub could be prevented.
Contrary to the criticisms of Pirouz’s upbringing, Pirouz needs this way of growing up.
Because this puppy has been raised by humans since the first day and it needs human help to maintain it, while it is not supposed to return to nature under any circumstances.
Pirouz sleeps in the open under the sky with his coach at night to get used to the natural environment and due to the cold weather, a closed space is also provided for keeping them so that the cold does not harm them.
Babak Bastani, Pirouz’s veterinarian, also said about Pirouz’s growth that this cheetah is behind compared to cheetahs born in the wild because it was born in captivity, and accordingly, the main teeth have not yet replaced its baby teeth, while 50% of its permanent teeth should have appeared by now.
Bastani pointed out that Pirouz’s weight is less than normal growth, and said that this issue is not dangerous for Pirouz and he does not have an acute physical problem.
He also said about the fact that Pirouz will soon be released in Turan region to live in the wild, that no animal born in captivity can be released unless there is a documented plan for its release, which is definitely the case. It will be very difficult and difficult, and based on this, Pirouz will not be able to be released even in the protected national park of Turan.
Emphasizing that Pirouz’s nutrition and treatment does not have a problem of funding, this veterinarian has noted that the average age of cheetahs in captivity, if they are kept properly, is about 15-16 years, which is compared to their natural life in nature. It is more, but in any case, the law of nature with issues such as hunting sometimes causes the age of these animals to not even reach 5 years.
He continued: Of course, it goes without saying that the nature of captivity is stressful for animals, and this may cause heart, liver and kidney problems for them.
This veterinarian stated about the way to protect this cheetah: 6 protection positions have been considered for Pirouz, and CCTV cameras are being completed and expanded, and the health status of this animal is monitored 24 hours a day. Some time ago, there was a rumor of Pirouz’s theft, which was not true at all.
