According to Eqtesad Online, quoting Shata, Minister Samat announced the approval of the general car import regulations in the Cabinet and said: “The various methods of car import are specified in the regulations that are currently in the final stages of approval.”

Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin added: “In the current situation, considering that car production is much less than market demand, imports are necessary to regulate and control the free car market.”

He added: “In the proposed regulation of car import, special attention has been paid to technology transfer to improve the quality of the automobile industry.”

Minister Samat stated: Currently, the economic cars that are in the production portfolio of car manufacturers are not of good quality and their production should be stopped.

Fatemi Amin added: “The focus is on importing economic cars in order to provide this type of car, which does not have a favorable position in the product portfolio of domestic car companies, and in order to support middle-income and low-income groups in society.”
