Car tax payment deadline until the end of February / Will ordinary cars be taxed?

According to Trade News, the budget law obliges 1,400 governments to collect taxes from luxury car owners. This part of the budget law had not been implemented yet, but now the beneficiaries have been given a deadline to pay the set tax by the end of February.

Recently, Davood Manzoor, the head of the Tax Affairs Organization, said that text messages would be sent to the owners of these cars.

Recently, Ali Rostampour, the head of the organization’s tax procedure center, announced that those involved can visit the site of this collection to see the tax amount they have to pay.

Two points about the car tax law have received less attention, which are discussed below. Before that, however, it remains to be seen what figures and percentages the budget law refers to.

Gradual increase in car taxes

According to the budget law, 1400 cars from one to 1.5 billion Tomans will be subject to one percent annual tax in relation to the surplus of one billion Tomans.

This percentage is equivalent to 2% for cars up to three billion Tomans, compared to the surplus of 1.5 billion Tomans.

Owners of cars up to 4.5 billion tomans, compared to a surplus of three billion tomans, must pay 3 percent tax.

This percentage is equivalent to 4% for cars over 4.5 billion Tomans, for the excess of this amount.

But if someone has a car, for example, 700 million Tomans, can he be subject to tax?

Total car tax!

The point that has received less attention in this law is that Car tax includes the total number of cars in the name of each person and their dependents under 18 years of age. To be.

According to the 1400 budget law and next year’s budget bill, owners must pay taxes on all types of passenger cars and two-cab pickups that are in their own name and those of children under the age of eighteen who are dependent on them.

Of course, provided that the total value of the cars is more than one billion tomans.

Thus, if a person owns a car worth 700 million Tomans and has another car worth 340 million Tomans (in his own name or a child under 18 years old), he must pay one percent tax on the excess of one billion Tomans.

The table that was denied

Some time ago, the media published a table that showed how much different cars should pay according to their price range.

Although the table provoked a lot of reactions, it was denied the next day.

In response to the publication of luxury car tax figures, the Tax Affairs Organization announced: The tables and declared values published in cyberspace have not been approved by this organization and are invalid.

Rostampour, the head of the Tax Procedure Center, recently stressed that the taxes announced in cyberspace are incorrect and people should not worry about it.

“Taxes are never calculated based on the price of market cars,” he added; But what does this sentence mean?

Taxes are levied on expert prices

In response to this question, Borzoo Haghshenas, an economist, told Tejaratnews: Cars are taxed based on expert pricing, which is usually lower than the market.

He explained: a car may be priced at more than one billion tomans in the market, but the official expert will set its price at 900 million tomans. In this case, it is not subject to tax.

Government efforts to cover budget deficit

“Many people may not have paid attention to the term car total and generally do not know that they are subject to car tax,” he said.

He believes that it would be better for the government to collect taxes from every car that is over one billion tomans, and the application of this law to the total number of cars owed by each person, will include more families.

The economist added: “The legislature wants to prevent people from using their property in the name of their children to get out of the tax circle.” The government is facing a budget deficit and is trying to make money in various ways.

According to Haghshenas, people who own two Chinese cars for less than one billion tomans or a few Pride Zero may also be subject to this tax.
