CES 2022 to be held without Mercedes, Biamo, Panasonic and IBM


With less than a week to go until CES 2022, many large companies have dropped out. Now the two car giants, Mercedes and Beamo, along with some technology companies such as IBM and Panasonic, have announced the cancellation of their presence plans.

Mercedes in its official statement Announced:

The health and safety of our customers, partners, employees and guests are of the highest priority. Due to the large group of participants and the different regulations of the country, unfortunately, in the current situation, it is not possible to have a stable, safe and harmless planning for all participants. We deeply regret this decision but consider it necessary.

BMW also announced its decision in a press release, saying:

For years, the BMW Group has been presenting its innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Due to the epidemic situation, the BMW Group is shifting all its planned activities at CES to a fully digital program broadcast from Germany.

Meanwhile, Voludin Lidar Automotive Company (Velodyne Lidar) Also issued a press release announcing its decision:

Validine Lidar will not be attending CES 2022 in person due to the rising rate of Covid-19. The health and safety of employees, partners and the public is our highest priority and has been a major factor in the company’s decision-making.

In addition, IBM withdrew from the CES 2022 venue, stating in a statement:

Due to Corona’s evolving conditions and due to great caution, IBM will not be present at CES in Las Vegas this year. We look forward to a virtual presence at this event.

In addition, another company that recently refused to attend CES is Panasonic, which now intends to be present virtually for a limited time.

CES 2022

So far, big companies such as Google and Intel, Twitter and Meta, as well as Microsoft, have refused to attend the event, all of which have raised concerns about the spread of the Corona virus and the new Amicron strain. To this end, there is now a great deal of ambiguity in holding CES 2022, and it remains to be seen what the fate of this important technology event will be.

CES 2022 will start on January 5 (January 15) and will continue until January 8 (January 18).
