China: Agreement in Vienna talks possible before February

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, the Chinese representative in the talks on lifting the sanctions in Vienna on Monday night, Tehran time, said that the start of the eighth round of the talks coinciding with Christmas and New Year holidays is a sign of urgency among the parties participating in the talks.
According to the news agency “Reuters“Today, all sides have agreed to start the eighth round of talks, even with Christmas and the New Year holidays,” Wang Gon, China’s senior envoy to the Vienna talks, told reporters shortly before the start of a new round of talks. “This in itself shows a sense of urgency on the part of all stakeholders.”
Sky News also quoted the Chinese representative in the Vienna talks as saying that the differences between the Iranian side and the three European countries are decreasing and an agreement can be reached in February 2022 (coinciding with the 12th of Bahman, 1400 AH). The news came hours after Iran’s chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani met with France’s chief negotiator in the Vienna talks.
The meeting between the senior negotiators of Iran and France took place while it was reported that France did not play a constructive role in the seventh round of the Vienna talks. Iranian officials have criticized Paris for its unconstructive role in the talks. Before the meeting between Bagheri Kenny and the senior French negotiator, the Iranian negotiating team
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s envoy to the Vienna-based international body, also met on Monday with EU envoy Enrique Mora to discuss the lifting of sanctions on Iran in Vienna.
“I met with Enrique Mora, the EU coordinator for the Vienna talks,” Ulianov tweeted.
The Russian diplomat went on to write that the two sides discussed “the way forward” in “possibly the last round of negotiations to revive the UN Security Council.”
Robert Mali, the US envoy to Iran, has also claimed that his country will not agree to what he says is a “worse deal” than Borjam.
In an interview with The New Yorker, Robert Mali claimed that Iran’s nuclear progress during the five-month hiatus in the Vienna talks had led Borjam to move away from non-proliferation interests.
The inaugural meeting of the Borjam Joint Commission to begin the eighth round of talks between Iran and the P4 + 1 group to lift sanctions began at 6 pm Vienna time (8:30 pm Tehran time) at the Coburg Hotel in Vienna.
