China has imposed sanctions on four US officials

The Chinese government on Tuesday imposed sanctions on four US officials over their statements about the human rights situation and religious freedom in China’s Xinjiang region, according to Fars News Agency International Group.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Shao Lijian said action had been taken against four US officials at the US Commission on Religious Freedom.
The sanctions were imposed on the commission’s chairman, deputy chairman and two prominent members.
According to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, the measures include banning them from entering China and blocking their assets in China, Hong Kong and Macao, and barring Chinese citizens and companies from interacting with them.
The US government has recently imposed sanctions on some Chinese officials on the pretext of human rights abuses in the Xinjiang region.
In its latest move, Washington boycotted the Chinese Winter Olympics and announced that it would not send any diplomatic representatives to the sporting event.
White House spokesman Jen Saki justified Washington’s move against Beijing, saying the US government was responsible for genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang province and other human rights abuses in China.
In recent years, tensions between the United States and the People’s Republic of China have escalated over a range of issues, including the Trump administration’s accusation of Beijing over the origins of the corona, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and more.
The US government has claimed human rights abuses against China’s Uighur minority in Xinjiang province, a claim that Beijing officials have vehemently denied, saying the United States should stop killing Muslims in Iraq and Syria instead of gesturing to support Muslims in Xinjiang province.
End of message.
