China has tightened the ban on the use of iPhones in government agencies

In mid-September, China announced a ban on the use of iPhones and other foreign technologies in a number of government agencies. Now, a new report indicates that the ban on the use of iPhones in this country has become more widespread and has covered at least 8 other provinces.
Bloomberg In a report, this new decision is an important step to tighten the iPhone ban. Apparently, in September, only a number of smaller organizations were subject to this ban, but now this ban has become more widespread. Chinese government officials have been asked to use domestic brands of smartphones instead of the iPhone and other foreign phones.
Sources familiar with the story say that now several organizations and government departments in at least eight provinces – including the booming coastal provinces – have asked their employees to use phones made by domestic Chinese brands.
Intensification of iPhone embargo in Chinese government agencies
In September, the Chinese authorities denied the news of banning the use of iPhones inside government organizations. But at the same time, it was announced that there are many concerns about security problems related to Apple iPhones. The US government called the iPhone ban in its Asian rival an “inappropriate retaliation”.
The United States government has imposed many sanctions on China in recent years, many of which are related to technology. Among these sanctions, we can mention the sanctions in the field of artificial intelligence, which even prohibits companies like Nvidia from supplying powerful chips to this country. Of course, Nvidia is looking for ways to circumvent these sanctions and can produce chips that qualify for export to China.
As Bloomberg says, there are still many unknowns about the extent of the iPhone ban in China, and we don’t know how strictly this law will be enforced. However, this ban could have consequences for Apple. The company is already facing declining sales in China, and things could only get worse for them.
