China invests in Afghanistan’s electricity industry

According to the correspondent of Fars News Agency’s Afghanistan site, the Taliban spokesperson announced China’s investment in Afghanistan’s power plants sector.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Taliban interim government, wrote in a tweet: “A memorandum of understanding has been signed with a Chinese state-owned company for the exploration and development of the gas field in Shabarqan and the construction of a 300 MW power plant.”
These statements are in the context that China’s special representative for Afghan affairs has visited Kabul with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations.
In a meeting with senior Taliban officials, Yushiyong said that bilateral relations between Kabul and Beijing have made great progress in the past year.
He said: China intends to help the country’s economy by importing fresh fruits and dried fruits from Afghanistan.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance of the interim government of the Taliban announced that the Ghoshqara oil extraction contract was awarded to a Chinese company.
According to this ministry, based on this contract, the Chinese company Oxus will extract Ghoshqara oil in cooperation with the state oil and gas company of Afghanistan.
The ministry added that 20 percent of this contract belongs to the Afghanistan Oil and Gas Company and the rest will be given to the Chinese company.
This is in a situation where the officials of the Chinese embassy in Afghanistan had announced that the process of issuing visas for Afghan nationals has started at the embassy of this country in Kabul.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Beijing will soon start issuing visas to Afghan nationals and will help the country’s farmers in the field of alternative cultivation as poppy cultivation stops in Afghanistan.
During the meeting with Amir Khan Motaghi on the sidelines of the Tashkent meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister informed about the comprehensive assistance between Afghanistan and China in the framework of economic reconstruction mechanisms and humanitarian aid, especially in the fields of trade and agriculture, and said that China, by stopping opium cultivation, It will help the farmers of this country in the field of alternative cultivation.
