China: The Middle East is no one’s backyard

According to IRNA’s report on Saturday, quoting the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Webin said in his weekly press conference: “The people of the Middle East are the owners of this region, and this region is not anyone’s backyard, and this region should be left alone.”

Wang made these statements in response to US President Joe Biden’s recent statements regarding the Middle East. Biden said that America should not allow a vacuum to be created for the presence of China or Russia by continuing its leadership in this region.

Pointing out that currently the Middle East is far from achieving complete peace, Wang Webin added that the Covid-19 pandemic has stopped the development process in the region. Also, the crisis in Ukraine has affected the security of the region.

The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said: What the people of the Middle East desire most is development. They also want to establish security in the region.

Wang called on the international community, especially the major powers, to respond to the urgent needs of the people of the Middle East and help the countries and people of the region to solve the two important issues of development and security and provide constructive assistance in this regard.

This spokesman said: China has always supported the people of the Middle East and also the countries of the region in solving security issues through solidarity and coordination.
