The switch does not turn
The most likely cause is that you are using a key that is not for this car or your key is worn out. If you have a spare key, it is better to try it as well.
Another common problem that causes the switch not to turn is when all the wheels of the car are turned to one side when parked and you removed the switch in this position. In this case, when you want to turn the switch, too much pressure on the steering wheel prevents the key from turning. To fix this problem, turn the steering wheel first to one side and then to the other while turning the switch. This relieves the pressure and causes the key to turn.
The engine does not turn
The car does not start It could be from the car’s battery, when you turn the key to start, you may hear a short or so-called click, or several quick clicks in a row, or the sound of the engine turning very slowly. The reason for all three mentioned cases is the weak car battery.
Before doing anything, turn on the headlights and then try to start. If the light of the lights is low or decreases over time, the reason for the engine not turning is weak or the battery is empty.
If the headlights are bright enough, but the condition does not change after starting the engine, the battery is probably fine and the condition is one of the following (in order of most likely):
A- In cars with automatic transmission, the gear is probably not in park or neutral mode (N) or the neutral gear mode of your car is faulty. Put the gear in park and try again.
B- You have not reduced the pressure on the clutch (in cars with automatic transmission) or your clutch pedal is faulty.
C- The engine switch or the wiring connected to it has a problem.
D- The starter motor or electric starter has a problem. (The start test should be done by a professional battery maker).
