Concern of the people of Lar village in Basht city to maintain the 2,770-year-old cypress

The protection of the 2,770-year-old cypress tree and the actual use of the environmental checkpoint to protect the environment are the most important concerns of the residents of the historic village of Lar in the south of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad. The plant and animal species of the country are inhabited, and the authorities are expected to provide protection for the wildlife species of this area by attracting forces to the Lar Bani Environmental Station.
The building of Mohit Bani checkpoint in Lar region was built in 2015 in an area of 115 square meters and the required equipment has been installed in it, but most of the time the door is closed 24 hours a day.
The nature-loving residents of Lar village, noting that Lar Mountain is home to animal species such as bears, leopards and other mammals, and that this area is one of the reserves of Jashir plant species, believe that the constant opening of the checkpoint is a deterrent to prevent Hunting of wildlife species and damage to the natural resources of the region.
Prangos ferulacea (L.) Lindl. It is a medicinal and native plant of the southern regions of Iran that has been used in traditional medicine in the treatment of many disorders and several researches have been done to identify the plant compounds and its therapeutic properties.
The residents of this village, where the 18,000-hectare Lar hunting area is located in their neighborhood and have witnessed fires in this area many times with the carelessness of poachers, reminded that the Lar environmental checkpoint was opened a year ago with government investment. The investment made should be used optimally. The authorities are asked to make more efforts to protect the natural resources of Lar by attracting staff for this center.
Reasons for closing the checkpoint door
Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, the public relations manager of the General Department of Environmental Protection, says: “Due to the lack of manpower, it is not possible for the Lar Bani environmental checkpoint to be open around the clock in Basht city.”
Hadi Sinaei emphasized: Basht city, with 17,000 hectares of Khami protected area and 18,000 hectares of no-hunting area in Lar, has only 2 rangers who are trying to monitor the area by working around the clock.
Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, the head of public relations for the General Directorate of Environmental Protection, reminded that according to international standards, one ranger should work for every 1,000 hectares of natural area:
Recalling the retirement of a number of environmental forces in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and the drip injection of force, he stressed: the shortage of force is not limited to the city of Basht and other parts of the province are facing such a problem.
Maintenance of an old cypress tree
Preservation of the old cypress tree, which after 2 years of expert research and DNA sampling is estimated to be 2,770 years old and is known as one of the oldest cypress trees in Iran, is another concern of the nature-loving people of Lar village. .
They point out that next to this ancient tree there are inscriptions and manuscripts from different periods and the fire temple of Zoroaster, which is a historical monument of Iran, and expect the authorities to allocate funds for fencing this unique natural phenomenon. And the historical monuments around it should redouble their efforts.
The cypress tree, which was registered in the list of national natural monuments in 1390, is seven meters and 45 centimeters high and its trunk circumference is seven meters.
According to Professor Soodabeh Ali Ahmad Karroui, a professor at the Vienna University of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences in Austria, the old cypress tree is a remnant of the Zoroastrian period, which the Iranians believed to be a cypress, and in every area where they lived There was a cypress.
Allocate funds to protect the Lar tree
Head of the General Directorate of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad One billion rials has been allocated for the protection of the natural monument of the cypress tree in Basht city, but its fencing requires field studies.
Saeed Talebipour, pointing out that this budget is allocated from Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Provincial credits for the maintenance of this ancient tree, said: In the near future, studies of this natural monument will be done by experts.
He said: “With this credit, fencing and determining the area of this tree for survival and protection against natural events such as wind and mountain fall due to its aging and human degradation factors will be done.”
Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, head of the General Directorate of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, said: “The natural monument of the cypress tree is one of the 17 natural monuments of the province, which is registered in the list of national monuments and therefore has the potential to become a tourist area.”
Other expectations of Lar residents from the authorities
The actual operation of the Red Crescent Road Rescue Base, which opened a year ago, is another concern of the trucks.
The governor of Basht says that the construction of a road rescue building in Lar village has been completed in advance, but the center has not been put into operation due to lack of equipment.
Nader Gerami pointed out that the existence of this base near Mount Lar is necessary: the necessary follow-up for the equipment and its operation is on the government’s agenda.
The existence of traces of the remains of the old city of Lardan, which historians refer to as a prosperous city in ancient Iran, shows that the village of Lar is one of the ancient regions of Iran.
Remains of an old fire temple, water reservoir, pottery left and minted coins are other historical monuments of this region.
Lar village, which is located 35 km west of Basht city, between the villages of Talchgah and Kuhsark, has shown a complete picture of the extract of historical, natural and religious beauties.
Basht city with a population of 23,000 is located 110 km from Yasuj, the capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Provinces.
