Confirmation of the start of Turkmen gas swap to Azerbaijan through Iran

Ibrahim Akhmedov, Deputy Director General of Public Relations of the Ministry of Petroleum of Azerbaijan, stated that the country has started receiving Turkmen gas in the form of a gas swap with Iran.
The Azerbaijani official said: “According to the agreement, gas flow has now been established between Iran and Azerbaijan.” Part of this gas is being transferred to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Region and the other part is to be transferred to Astara on the border with Iran.
The Azerbaijani side, of course, said that the flow of gas to the Nakhchivan region has begun and the transfer of gas to Astara will begin in the near future after the technical steps.
He said: the volume of gas transferred from Iran to Azerbaijan will be a little more than 4 million cubic meters per day.
