Congressional midterm elections / America’s fate in the hands of several key states

According to IRNA’s report on Tuesday, the composition of the Senate is currently divided fifty-fifty between the two Republican and Democratic parties, and by adding the first vice president to this composition, the tip of the scale is in favor of the Democrats.

If the Republicans take just one seat held by the Democrats, they will take power to thwart the plans of the President of the United States, Joe Biden.

The English BBC website took a look at the state of the key American states in this election under the pretext of holding mid-term congressional elections.

Georgia

Joe Biden’s two victories in this conservative southern state finally gave Democrats control of the Senate after the 2020 election, and Georgia could once again prove to be a pivotal role.

One of the winners was “Raphael Warnock”, who was named the first black senator of this state thanks to the vote of African Americans. This time, the Republicans have nominated a black candidate named Herschel Walker.

These two have humble roots, but the paths they have taken and their politics can be more different.

Herschel Walker shook hands with former US President Donald Trump in 2021. But his campaign headquarters is struggling with a series of personal scandals.

Warnock also hopes that his election campaign will protect the right to abortion and the right to vote, but high inflation, the weak economy and the unpopularity of US President Joe Biden threaten this senator’s seat.

If none of these candidates get 50% of the votes, a possibility that is evident due to the presence of a candidate from the Third Freedom Party, then the election will be extended to the second round on December 6.

Pennsylvania

Close competition has become the norm in the state. The task of the previous two presidential elections was determined by the one percent score, and the fate of the Senate election race may also be determined at the last moments.

This is another competition that experts consider to be in a “tap or line” situation.

In 2016, Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto won the election for Congress as the country’s first Latino senator. He is considered one of the high-risk candidates.

Democrats have not had much success with Latinos in recent years because many of them prefer conservative policies on abortion and immigration. But the economy is the most important issue, and Republicans hope that the party’s voters will to punish those in power.

Ohio

This state voted entirely for the Republicans in the two presidential elections, so this race does not seem to be close in this state.

The Democrats have nominated “Ten Ryan”, a lawmaker in the House of Representatives and a candidate for the 2020 presidential election. “JD Vance” is also the Republican candidate from this state. He is a capitalist who gained a high reputation due to the best-selling publication of his memoirs, which later became a movie on Netflix.

New Hampshire

Republican strategists have tried to name an ideal candidate for the Senate race they were certain to win, and almost gave up when voters nominated a conspiracy theorist.

But Don Bolduc, a retired army general who served in Afghanistan, is running with a significant margin against Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan.

Bolduc had some points of view, but he backed down from the most controversial one, which was saying that Trump will win the 2020 elections.

Voters in these states are also unhappy with inflation, high energy costs and Maggie Hassan’s performance in the Senate.

North Carolina

Democrats lost the most expensive congressional election in history when candidates battled for Senate in the state two years ago.

This time they have spent much less. It could cost Cherie Beasley, a 56-year-old black woman who recently served as chief justice and three statewide elections.

North Carolina has not sent a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 2008, so Ms. Beasley’s race has gone largely unnoticed.

Arizona

Nowhere has the conspiracy theory about the 2020 presidential election been stronger than this state.

“Black Masters”, the 36-year-old Republican candidate for the Senate from this state, publicly called the term “big lie” that Trump really won the election and that the result of the election was stolen from him.

This candidate is against the policy of nationalism with US aid to Ukraine.

But “Mark Kelly” is the Democratic candidate who is trying to defend the seat of the Democrats in this state. He is a former NASA astronaut and his wife Gabby Giffords was hit in the head in an accident in 2011 and almost died.

The couple has focused on gun control for the past decade, and Ms. Giffords is slowly regaining her ability to read, talk and walk.

Sen. Kelly has been on the defensive about illegal immigration in the border state, rejecting his rival Masters’ claims that he supports open borders.

Wisconsin

In another deeply divided state where the outcome of the election is decided by razor-thin margins, Democrats see the race as their biggest goal of the election cycle.

The party’s strategists reacted when Ron Johnson, who had promised to retire as a lawmaker after his second term, changed his mind.

The Republican senator, who voted against confirming Joe Biden’s election victory in 2020, downplayed the attack on Congress and even once suggested using mouthwash to kill the coronavirus.

But the Republicans argue that it is Mandela Barnes, the Democratic candidate, whose positions are harsh.
