Construction of a film studio in space until 2024

SEE, one of the producers of the new Tom Cruise film in space, has announced the construction of a film studio 250 miles from Earth.

Theater News Base: Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE) has announced that the completion of this film studio called “SEE-1” is scheduled for December 2024, and the studio is to be installed at Axium Station as the commercial wing of the International Space Station.

Located 250 miles from Earth, the space studio will host events related to cinema, television, music and sports, although no decision has yet been made about the host capacity.

Axium, which will be separated from the International Space Station (ISS) in 2028, won a contract to develop the International Space Station’s commercial section earlier this month.

“Studio SEE-1 is an incredible opportunity for humanity to step into a different realm and start a new and exciting chapter in space,” said Dmitry and Elena Lesnovsky, co-founders of the company (SEE). This place provides a unique and accessible home for unlimited entertainment facilities in a place full of innovative infrastructure that will be accompanied by the creation of a new world of creativity. “By building these advanced and revolutionary facilities, Axiom will, for the first time, provide a high-quality space structure that enables the expansion of the $ 2 trillion global entertainment industry in near-Earth orbit.”

Axiom is the company that plans to send Tom Cruise and Doug Lyman as directors to the International Space Station this year to direct the second film in space. Russia had previously announced the production of a film in space, and in October 2021, the filmmakers made a successful 12-day filming trip to the International Space Station to overtake their American rivals.

The Russian film is about a surgeon who has to operate a sick cosmonaut in space because his medical condition prevents him from returning to Earth for treatment. The film is scheduled to be released later this year.

Tom Cruise was also scheduled to travel to the space station in October 2021 to make his film project, but the trip has been delayed for several months due to his $ 200 million budget.

In recent years, efforts have been made to recreate zero gravity in cinema. In 2013, Alfonso Cuar .n made a film called “Gravity” starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney after years of research and innovation and millions of dollars. The $ 100 million film grossed $ 723 million at the box office worldwide and won seven Academy Awards.
