Danger to Unauthorized Films / Transparency of Cinema Policies

According to Fars News Agency’s cinema correspondent, Mohammad Khazaei, the head of the country’s cinema organization, last night (Sunday, January 17) gave a short talk on various topics of Iranian cinema on Ofogh TV’s “Camera Ofogh” program.

New axes of Iranian cinema policies

Khazaei said about the new management policies of the cinema organization: “We designed three slogans for the cinema organization, which will be the three main axes of this organization.” “Standardization”, “attention to law” and “justice-oriented” are the three main axes with which we are supposed to advance the policies and laws of the cinema organization.

He continued: “When we discuss cultural development and justice, we should also look for this issue in different provinces.” I have been traveling to the provinces for some time and I have learned about the situation in many cities. Many cities do not yet have cinemas and movie theaters.

Plans to increase cinemas

The head of the cinema organization announced: “We in this government have decided to establish cinemas in some cities that do not have cinemas with the help of governors, mayors, deputy mayors and the private sector.” If every province has the possibility of establishing a cinema hall through the governor, the mayor or even the governor, they should announce their readiness to have interactions in this regard. We can solve the problem of shortage of cinemas across the country or at least multiply these cinemas in the country.

The danger that threatens unlicensed films

Khazaei stated about the production of movies without a license: “Currently, movies are being produced in Iranian cinema without a production license, and this has been the case for some time now.” Since September of this year, when I started my work as the head of the cinema organization, it was announced that all the films that have not been licensed to produce and have produced, the cinema organization will not have any obligation to them, that is, these films to get their screening licenses. They will also face a problem, because these films are made illegally.

Policies become transparent

Regarding the transparency of the rules of the cinema organization, he said: “We will soon announce one of the policies of the cinema organization in a transparent way, so that the filmmaker does not have any problems.” One of the problems I had with myself during the production was the lack of transparency in the rules, I did not know what the rules were that I had to consider so that my film would not have a problem. We are clarifying policies, and in a way, by clarifying policies, we are creating job security and investment security in Iranian cinema. In other words, the cinematographer knows that if he considers these policies, his film will not face any problems. For this reason, the investor is relieved that his money will not be lost in Iranian cinema.

Regarding the 40th Fajr Film Festival, the film director said: “This year, due to the development of cultural justice, we will hold the Fajr Film Festival in all provinces of the country, and the cost of copyright for the festival films will be paid through the cinema organization.” This is very important, because for many years, different provinces of the country, because they could not afford it, had to hold the festival more limited with fewer films.

In the end, Khazaei said: “According to the plans of the Iranian cinema family, good things will happen.” We hope that with the work and policies that we are carrying out, no filmmaker in the private sector will be worried about the release of his film in the coming years. People should not worry about watching movies in cinemas, and the government can do its job.
