Robert De Niro starred in an action movie with Scott Eastwood and Jimmy Foxx, and then starred in a comedy.
Theater News Base: The action film “Tin Soldier” stars Robert De Niro, Scott Eastwood, Jimmy Foxx and John Legizamo.
Filming for the film, which will be screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will begin next week in Greece.
“Tin Soldier” tells the story of a character played by Jimmy Foxx, who impresses hundreds of veterans by preaching and keeping them in command, and has stored large quantities of ammunition. The government intends to break this cycle and, under the leadership of Emmanuel Ashbern, plays a new operation with De Niro.
Brad Foreman, who made “Lincoln Lawyer,” is directing the film, and the screenplay was written by Jess Fuerst.
Variety also reported that De Niro’s other film is a comedy-drama titled “Misconduct,” in which he co-stars with Bobby Cannavale. The film is being directed by Tony Goldwyn, the creator of “Condemnation,” and De Niro is a supporting actor.
The film is also scheduled to be shot in the United States in August this year. Scores for the film will also go on sale this week. Tony Spiridakis is the screenwriter of the film, in which Cannavale plays a comedian who goes through a successful career and gets married to become a stand-up comedian who is not very successful. His father is played by De Niro, a talented chef who now works as a doorman. Meanwhile, the abduction of a 9-year-old boy in order to discipline him creates interesting and funny adventures.
Spiridakis was inspired by his relationship with his son to create the script for the father-son relationship.
De Niro starred in Scorsese’s “Full Moon Killers” last year, which has yet to be shown, and later starred in Laura Trusso’s “About My Father.”
The actor recently (last week) returned from Argentina. He had a brief appearance in a series there alongside Luis Brandoni, an Argentine actor and politician who is a friend of De Niroost.
Robert De Niro celebrated his 78th birthday last August.
