Nader Shabani, whom photographers called “Uncle Nader” because of his artistic appearance, was born on April 1, 1329, in Tehran. The second stroke caused anesthesia. After several days of coma, he finally passed away at noon on Tuesday, 28th of Shahrivar, and now his body is being buried in plot 69 of Behesht Zahra.

Master Nader Shabani Azar is famous for his portraits. For a long time, he would stand on the sidelines of meetings or in the corner of ceremonies and look through the lens of his camera to catch a pure moment and record an image.

He was an elegant, well-dressed, well-mannered old man with a calm face, a smile on his face, a Nikon camera in his hand and a bag of lenses and equipment on his back.

From the age of 15, Nader Shabani-Azer started working at Shima Photography in Vezara Street under the management of Ahmad Safaei. This cooperation ends after the death of Ahmad Safaei in 1377, and “Uncle Nader” continues to work in that shop for the heirs of Mr. Ahmad Safaei until he retires two years later.

He remains unemployed for a year, and in 1980, he was assigned to photograph the school construction projects of Khairmadrasaz, Javad Mofafaqian. Two days a week in his office on the street… Follows up office work. This cooperation has continued with ups and downs. Since 1988, at the same time as Javad Moafaqian’s autobiography, he met Hassan Hamzezadeh, director of the Hazarberg Press Institute, and this cooperation continued until the last days of the deceased’s life.

Hamzezadeh says about the late Shabani Azar: “He was very individual and the principles of manners. I never heard him insult anyone or hurt anyone. He worked patiently. He was not in a hurry at all. He did not hesitate. He did not make less than 500 shots; Even for a simple ceremony. He would come half an hour before the ceremony and leave after everyone else.”

Maryam Qavam, the wife of this veteran photographer, also says: “Mr. Nader was very interested in his work. His first love in life was photography. When he was working in Shima’s photography, he worked continuously from 9 am to 10 pm. He was in charge of the photography studio and his photographs. He also covered the orders for ceremonies and weddings.”

According to him, Nader had a big crisis in his life, and that is when a thief broke into his house in 1982 and stole his camera and all his belongings. Nader, who didn’t know anything other than photography all his life, struggles with unemployment for a year; Until one of his friends sends him a Nikon camera from Canada and gradually completes his work tools.

Hamzezadeh says about “Uncle Nader”: He loved his work. He had a complete archive of all his photos; Whether it was when he took analog photographs and displayed and printed his photos in the Shima photographic darkroom in the area of ​​Vezara Street, or in the digital era when he burned them on CDs or poured them onto hard drives, he kept everything with the exact date and subject of the photography.

Nader Shabani-Azer suffers from hernia disease. He also had a congenital heart defect, which, according to the doctors, was not a problem. Of course, he was suffering from diabetes for more than a decade. Doctors recommend that he should not lift more than one kilogram, and this was not compatible with the nature of a photographer’s work. For this reason, during the operation, the same heart failure rarely causes a cardiac arrest, and with the efforts of doctors, he is revived and admitted to the ICU. After a week of struggling with the complications of a heart attack, he finally succumbed to his life at 11 am on Tuesday, 28 September 1402.

His body is now being buried in plot 69 of Behesht Zahra without his photographers and colleagues being present in this ceremony.
