Deputy representative of Iran: We are ready to improve the connection of Central and South Asia



Zahra Ershadi, the Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of our country to the United Nations, on Monday local time, in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on the subject of the connection between Central and South Asia, stated: From the point of view of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the issue of connection between Central and South Asia and also The comprehensive and sustainable development of relations between these two areas based on the traditional friendly relations between the nations of the two regions with the aim of strengthening the existing historical and cultural relations has a special place and importance.

While emphasizing the necessity of promoting the cooperation between the two regions in all dimensions, especially economy, investment, energy, transportation and new technologies, the importance of regional and inter-regional connectivity as well as joint actions in the field of infrastructure development, synergy He mentioned the unhindered economic and financial cooperation in policies and cooperation.

In another part, the ambassador and deputy representative of our country in the United Nations, while emphasizing the role of regional organizations such as ECO in promoting inter-regional and extra-regional connectivity, stated: The issue of connectivity plays a significant role in promoting trade, economic growth and sustainable development. By developing regional cooperation, it strengthens friendly relations between neighboring countries.

Ershadi stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran encourages the continuation and strengthening of cooperation between Central and South Asia through the improvement of transportation and communication infrastructures, as well as the strengthening of international corridors that lead to the opening of safe trade routes to ports.

In this regard, he considered the Tirmaz, Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, Zahedan, and Chabahar routes, as well as the railways of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Pakistan, as examples of such actions.

The deputy representative of Iran in the United Nations also emphasized the importance of multimodal transportation to improve the connection between the two regions and reminded the very important role of ports like Chabahar in this regard.

Ershadi added: “Iran, with its unique capacities and capabilities, and as an important link between Central Asia and South Asia, is ready to improve the area of ​​connection between the two regions.”

In the end, the deputy representative of Iran in the United Nations pointed out the negative effects of illegal unilateral coercive measures, including illegitimate unilateral sanctions, on the issue of the connection between Central and South Asia, and emphasized that in this regard, it is necessary to avoid politicizing an important issue such as the connection between Two areas should be avoided.
