Designing different methods of supplying imported cars is on the agenda of the Ministry of Security

Omid Qalibaf, in an interview with the economic reporter of Fars news agency, about the “removal of the clause on the supply of imported cars in the commodity exchange” in the recent resolution of the Council of Ministers, stated that according to the new notification, in addition to the sale of imported cars in the commodity exchange, other fields are open for the sale of these cars. It is not only that imported cars are supposed to be sold on the commodity exchange, but the commodity exchange is one of the methods that can be considered for the supply of imported cars.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Security stated: This resolution increases the flexibility of the sale of imported cars, and the Ministry of Security is also designing another method or methods that can sell imported cars through those methods.

According to Fars report, it was previously stated in paragraph (2) of the amended resolution on car import, which was approved by the Council of Ministers on 8.1.1401, that imported cars are only offered in the commodity exchange.

Also, in paragraph (2) of the amended resolution, it was stated that the commercial profit rate of imported cars according to value (code) with the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers, a member of the working group consisting of the ministers of industry, mining and trade, economic affairs and finance and the head of the country’s planning and budget organization, in accordance with Article 19 of the internal regulation of the government board is approved in such a way that the difference between the base price and the final price in the commodity exchange is equivalent to a fair profit. The aforementioned working group is authorized to determine the reason for the commercial profit at the time of clearance and determine the definite commercial profit at the time of sale.

However, Mohammad Mokhbar, the first vice president of the Republic of Iran yesterday, 24th of February 1401, in paragraph (1) of the new notification, said that in paragraph 2, the phrase “imported cars are only offered on the commodity exchange” and the phrase “on the commodity exchange” are deleted.

In this notification it is stated: The Board of Ministers in the meeting of 11.19.1401, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, and referring to Article 131 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has approved:

Approval No. 95240. T 59860 dated 1401.06.03 and its subsequent amendments are amended as follows:

1- In paragraph 2, the phrase “imported cars are offered only on the commodity exchange” and the phrase “on the commodity exchange” are deleted.

2- Paragraph 5 is amended as follows:

5- Vehicles that are allowed to travel in free zones according to the existing regulations before the notification of this approval are subject to the payment of related duties and debts and import duties including customs duties and approved commercial profit, are allowed to have national license plates and travel in the mainland.

Vehicles excluded from the clause of a joint memorandum of the Supreme Council of Free Zones and Customs are not included in this clause.

Note- The price of the car for the calculation of customs duties is determined in compliance with Article 14 of the Law on Customs Affairs approved in 2013 through the system related to the country’s tax affairs organization (vehicle transfer tax payment system). The mentioned organization is obliged to continuously update the price information of this system.
