The head of the Tehran Handmade Shoemakers Union stated: Although shoemakers were active in this market in the past, but now the number of shoemakers in this market has reached a minority and according to the information received in this incident, no shoe store has caught fire.

“The exact extent of the damage and the exact number of shops affected by the fire are not yet known,” he said.

According to Seyed Jalal Maleki, spokesman for the Tehran Fire Department, the fire broke out at 7:38 a.m. today in Timcheh Hajib al-Dawla, one of the old buildings of Tehran’s Grand Bazaar, which is located on two floors; In this incident, about 30 shops in small and large sizes caught fire and the windows and walls of some shops were destroyed.
