Deterioration of the conditions of the residents of Gaza as a result of the aggression of the Zionist regime

According to IRNA on Sunday, the United Nations website reported: “Yain Hastings,” the UN humanitarian aid coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, after meeting with a family in Gaza whose house was severely damaged in the conflicts, said: “The humanitarian situation in Gaza It is getting worse and the recent escalation will only make it worse. We are ready to work with all parties to ensure that humanitarian needs are met.”

The pressures caused by the aggression and violence of the Zionist army have faced many residents of Gaza, especially children, with a greater need for psychological support.

The report added that during three violent days in early August, until the ceasefire was reached on August 7 (16 August), the Zionist forces carried out about 147 airstrikes against targets in Gaza.

Tor Vansland, the special coordinator of the Middle East peace process, reported in a report to the Security Council on August 8 that 46 Palestinians were killed and 360 wounded in these attacks.

Adel Khader, Regional Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the Middle East and North Africa, in a statement welcoming the ceasefire, said: 17 Palestinian children were among those killed in Gaza in August, and the conflicts have taken a heavy toll on everyone. The young people living in Gaza have been imported.

He added: For many children, this was their fifth conflict in the last 15 years. Many of them are now living with the long-term psychological effects of constant exposure to violence.

Dr. Youssef Shahin, head of the disease prevention and control program of the Palestinian Refugee Relief and Employment Agency (UNRWA), said in a workshop that the agency’s mental health and psychological support program for treating more than 87,000 cases is one of the most important programs in the country. It is Gaza.

Dr. Sami Oveda, one of the experts of the mental health program in Gaza, for his part, said that the psychological challenges of the residents of this region are caused by the occupation and siege of the Gaza Strip by the Zionists, which has lasted for more than 15 years. More than 65% of the population of Gaza lives below the poverty line and more than 60% are unemployed.

“Ghada Al Jadba”, head of UNRWA’s health program, confirmed these words, saying that the people of Gaza “live in a state of despair and psychological deterioration as a result of deteriorating economic, social and political conditions”.

This report added that the violence of the Zionists has caused one third of the population of the Gaza Strip to need psychological and social support.

More than two million people live in the Gaza Strip: there is only one mental health hospital with a capacity of fifty beds to serve five governorates in the Gaza Strip.

According to IRNA, UNICEF had previously announced that more than 1.3 million Palestinian children in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, who returned to school this week, are facing serious dangers and threats.

According to the UNICEF report, since the beginning of this year, the Zionist regime has committed 115 violations in the education sector in the West Bank, including the fact that the soldiers of this regime have repeatedly fired tear gas and stun grenades into schools and created unrest among students. They terrorized and sometimes arrested them.
