Did the vacant home tax get serious? / Housing market reaction

According to Tejarat News, the law on tax on vacant houses has been introduced for two years, but it has not been fully implemented.
Davood Manzoor, head of the Tax Affairs Organization today to ایسنا He said that the tax on vacant houses should be based on the information received from the real estate and housing system.
According to him, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has until the end of December this year to complete the information on vacant houses.
Market reaction to vacant house tax
Mansour Gheibi, a housing market expert, told Tejarat News about the market’s reaction to the vacant house tax: “After the approval of the bylaws, no effective action has been taken in this regard, so it has not had much effect on the housing market.”
He believes that the tax on vacant homes is the right thing to do, and if implemented properly, it could affect the housing market.
This expert obliges the government to start the tax plan for vacant houses.
According to Ghaybi, in order for this plan and its implementation to be regular and common in the market, the government and other government organizations must implement this law.
The government should start with the banks
The housing market expert said: “After two years, there is still no official body in charge of implementing and supervising this project.”
Gheibi explained: the government should act through banks and transfer some of their empty assets to welfare, for example.
According to him, with this move, the government can claim that it has started the tax plan on vacant houses and transferred it to the community level.
Gheibi said: “With the start of this project by the government, it is gradually being modeled and the obstacles to the implementation of the project are reduced.”
The need to observe social justice
This housing market expert believes that the implementation of the tax plan on vacant houses only for the general public is far from social justice. This plan has not been implemented properly if taxes are not levied on unused assets of banks and the like and only some public houses are taxed.
“If the government implements this law with self-audit, it will be closer to social justice, and as a result, some people who have vacant houses will be encouraged to pay taxes,” he said.
According to Tejarat News, considering the fact that about two years have passed since the adoption of this law and its distance from the implementation stage, it has not yet had an effect on the market.
Some housing market experts are not opposed to the vacant home tax plan, but believe that its lack of speed and proper implementation will cause problems.
